When two of you come in for a date, we often think the seats and the flow of the meal matter as much as the menu. Some evenings you want to talk quietly; others you want to sit by the charcoal and compare cuts one by one. Here is the order we suggest so your evening at Zaruyaki Yongsanro moves along naturally.

We have several kinds of seating, including the bar counter and couple seats. Whether you want to sit side by side close to the charcoal grill, or face each other and talk slowly, a different seat suits you. Seating arrangements can change with the weather and the day's bookings, so if you have something in mind, mention it around the time you book on CATCH TABLE. We will do what we can.

Start your first order with different textures

If it is your first visit together, we suggest tasting cuts with different textures rather than ordering a lot of one thing. Add chewier cuts such as gizzard, heart or cartilage to tender ones like thigh or neck, and the differences within the same chicken come through clearly. Sharing a piece at a time and talking about the taste is part of enjoying zaruyaki.

Follow the grill with a warm hot pot

If the date doubles as dinner, adding a hot pot after the charcoal grill makes the meal flow comfortably. For a rich, savoury broth look at motsunabe; for a lighter chicken-led taste, torinabe; for a sweet-savoury direction, Kanto-style sukiyaki nabe. Plan for the trip home too

We are about 300m from Exit 1 of Sinyongsan Station and we do not have our own car park. Public transport makes it easier to plan where to go before and after.
